PSG focuses on rapid transitions and verticality through a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup aims to stretch the opposition by using wide attackers and high wing backs to create space in the final third. Gianluigi Donnarumma guards the goal for PSG. The back line functions as a back three with Vitinha acting as a central defender to provide cover. Marquinhos plays as the right centre back and is dominant in the air, while Beraldo operates as the left centre back. Nuno Mendes acts as an attacking wing back on the left to provide width, and Achraf Hakimi plays as an attacking wing back on the right to drive forward. This unit works to defend zonally and squeeze the space when the team sits in a mid-block.

The midfield consists of a two man pairing with Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz. Joao Neves works to shield the defense and win the second ball in central areas. Fabian Ruiz connects the defensive and attacking lines by receiving the ball and moving it forward. They must work hard to cover the ground between the lines and prevent opponents from playing through the middle. This pair focuses on recycling possession and keeping the game moving toward the front three.

The attack features three players across the front. Ousmane Dembele operates as a striker who can hold up the ball and link play. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances, while Désiré Doué occupies the right wing to stretch the defense. The team uses these attackers to press the opposition back line and create runs in behind. They aim to isolate wide players in one on one situations or deliver crosses from the wide areas to find the striker.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The width provided by Hakimi and Mendes creates wide overloads that force the opposition to shift constantly. Having three central defenders allows for compactness when defending and makes it difficult for opponents to find space in the box. The speed of the front three allows PSG to break quickly once the ball is won in the middle of the pitch.
