Dun. Streda Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Jedlička · Kružliak · Oravec · Davis · Koštrna · Vida · Kalmár (c) · Ronan · Divkovič · Ramirez · ČmelíkDun. Streda relies on defensive solidity and quick breaks through a 5-2-3. This formation is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting in behind on the transition. The team aims to be hard to break down by keeping a compact formation.
Jedlička guards the goal to lead the defensive unit. The back line operates as a back five where Vida sits centrally to win the header and cover for his partners. Kružliak and Oravec act as the left and right centre backs to defend zonally and protect the central zone. Davis and Koštrna play as attacking wing backs. Davis covers the left flank to provide width, while Koštrna pushes up to overlap the winger on the right. They work to hold the line and clear the lines when under pressure.
In the middle, the team uses a pair of midfielders with Ronan and Kalmár (c) acting as the engine. Kalmár (c) functions as a deep lying playmaker who receives on the half turn to play through the lines. He uses his passing range to find the feet of the striker or switch play to the wings. Ronan acts as the carrier to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. They work together to compress the midfield and deny the pivot of the opponent.
The attack features three players with Ramirez acting as a lone striker to hold up the ball. Čmelík and Divkovič act as inverted wingers who cut inside to find space between the lines. They pull wide to stretch the defence and create room for the wing backs to overlap. When the ball is recovered, the team looks to break quickly with the forwards making runs in behind. The front three press from the front to win the ball back high up the pitch.
This DAC Dunajská Streda formation offers great defensive compactness. By sitting in a mid block, the unit makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads. When Davis or Koštrna push up, they create two on one situations against the opposition full backs. This allows the team to switch play and deliver early crosses into the box.
The 5-2-3 formation is a reliable choice for a team that wants to defend deep and counter at pace. It is most effective against teams that play a high line and leave space for runners.
