River Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Beltran · Montiel · Pezzella · M. Quarta · Rivero · Baju · Lencina · De la Cuesta · Driussi · Subiabre · RubertoRiver focuses on a high press and rapid transition using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and attack the opposition quickly. The goal is to keep the pressure on the opponent and control the central areas through constant movement and ball recovery.
Beltran acts as the goalkeeper to start any build up from the back. The back line consists of a back three where Rivero plays as the left centre-back and Pezzella acts as the right centre-back. M. Quarta occupies the central spot to sweep behind the line and organize the unit. This group can play short from the back to move out of pressure. Rivero and Pezzella can step up to squeeze the space or cover the wide areas when the team pushes forward. M. Quarta uses his presence to win the header and clear the lines when the opposition goes direct.
The midfield functions with a double pivot of Baju and Montiel to control the center. Baju works to shield the defense and sit deep, while Montiel looks to carry the ball forward and win the second ball. In front of them, Lencina and De la Cuesta play in the half spaces to connect the lines. Lencina tries to break the line with vertical passes, while De la Cuesta works to receive on the half-turn and spread the play. This grouping allows the team to recycle possession and keep the ball moving through the thirds. They work to compress the midfield and prevent the opponent from finding space between the lines.
The front line uses three attackers to stretch the defense. Ruberto leads the line as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender. On the flanks, Driussi plays on the left and Subiabre on the right. Driussi tends to cut inside to act as a second striker, while Subiabre stays wide to pull the opposition defenders out of position. This creates space for Lencina and De la Cuesta to arrive late into the box. The team looks to hit in behind on the transition by using the speed of the wingers.
A major advantage for River is the ability to create wide overloads when the attacking midfielders push into the channels. The formation also allows for pressing in coordinated waves to win it back high up the pitch. This creates constant pressure and makes it hard for the opponent to play out from the back. The speed of transition allows the team to hit in behind on the transition before the opposition can recover.
This 3-4-3 formation is a heavy attacking system designed for dominance. It works best against teams that sit deep and defend in a narrow block.
