The midfield works in a three-man unit to control the center of the pitch. Yin and Hound operate in the central roles to shield the defense and recycle possession. Yin helps to drive forward with the ball, while Hound works to intercept passes and link the defensive unit to the attacking players. Submerged plays as the attacking ten behind the strikers, looking to find pockets of space and play through the lines to create chances.

Grêmio uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition. Jacksz and Japorr work together to press the opponent back line and make runs in behind. The two forwards use their movement to pull defenders out of position, allowing Submerged to arrive late into the box. When the team moves into transition, the wing backs Mob999 and Ruszo push wide to deliver crosses, creating combinations with the strikers to finish moves.

One major advantage for Grêmio is the ability to create wide overloads when Mob999 and Ruszo move forward to support the attack. This formation also provides great compactness when defending deep, making it very difficult for opponents to find space between the lines. The presence of three central players in the midfield allows the team to win the second ball and protect the middle of the pitch effectively.
