ATK Mohun Bagan Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Ajay (GK) · ARIF (CB) · RAKIB (CB) · MUSTAFA (LB) · KAIF(CAM) · ARITRA(LM) · IMRAN KHAN(ST) · RAJA(LW) · IMRAN(RW) · KESHORE(RB) · PRINCE(RM)ATK Mohun Bagan aims to dominate games through a high press and quick transitions using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to pin the opposition back and win the ball high up the pitch to create immediate scoring chances. The team relies on high intensity to disrupt the opponent and move the ball forward rapidly through the thirds.
Ajay plays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line functions as a flat back four where KESHORE acts as the right back and MUSTAFA occupies the left back position. RAKIB and ARIF operate as the central defenders to hold the line and protect the area. These defenders work to stay compact and win the second ball while ARIF and RAKIB cover each other to prevent runners from getting behind.
The midfield relies on a three-man midfield with a carrier and creative elements. KAIF operates as the attacking ten behind the striker to connect the lines and play through the lines. PRINCE and ARITRA occupy the central midfield roles to control the tempo and protect the center. PRINCE and ARITRA work to press in a mid-block and win back possession to help KAIF drive forward with the ball.
In the attacking phase, ATK Mohun Bagan uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. IMRAN plays as an inverted winger on the right and RAJA operates as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside. IMRAN KHAN acts as the lone striker to lead the press and find the feet of the striker. The wingers pull wide to create width before looking to deliver early balls into the box or play a one-two with IMRAN KHAN.
One major strength of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force a long ball from the opponent. The team also creates wide overloads when MUSTAFA and KESHORE push forward to support the wingers. This allows the side to pin the last defender and create space in the middle for KAIF to operate.
This 4-3-3 formation provides a direct and aggressive way to control the tempo of a match. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back or lack midfield depth.
