Starting Lineup

Spud James · Butch · Jack · SBT · mykolenko · DM|11 · George · Mendy · Musiala · Blippz · Grandpa

Leeds focuses on a reactive and compact style of play using a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and wait for the right moment to hit in behind on the transition. The team uses a mid-block to squeeze the space and frustrate the opponent throughout the match.

Butch stays in goal to protect the net. The defense operates as a flat back four where mykolenko works on the left to defend the wide zone. Jack and SBT act as the central defenders to win the header and clear the lines during periods of pressure. DM|11 plays as the right back and must track back to help the unit. This back four stays close to deny the turn and prevent any easy passes through the middle.

The midfield works as a five man unit to control the center of the pitch. Mendy and George form a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Musiala and Blippz operate in the central roles to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Musiala uses his dribbling style to carry the ball forward and find space. Grandpa plays as an attacking ten to link play and arrive late into the box.

Spud James leads the attack as a lone striker to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. Grandpa sits in the hole to play through the lines and find the feet of the striker. The midfielders must spread wide to offer an outlet and provide width during transitions. The attack relies on the movement of Spud James to draw defenders out of position so Grandpa can find space.

Leeds gains an advantage from the compactness when defending in a mid-block to force a long ball. The double pivot of Mendy and George helps the team to compress the midfield and win back possession. The ability to break quickly through the movement of Grandpa and Spud James creates a high threat on the counter when the opposition is caught out.

This 4-5-1 formation relies on defensive discipline and rapid counter attacks. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line and dominate possession.
