Starting Lineup
GYOKERES (HAVERTZ) · SAKA (MADUEKE) · R. LEAO (MARTINELLI) · ODEGAARD (NWANERI) · RICE (MERINO) · ZUBIMENDI (NORGAARD) · RAYA (KEPA) · TIMBER (BEN WHITE) · CALAFIORI (LEWIS-SKELLY) · SALIBA (MOSQUERA) · GABRIEL (KIWIOR)Arsenal plays with a heavy focus on verticality and high intensity. This 3-3-4 formation focuses on overwhelming the opposition in their own half and winning the ball high up the pitch. The intention is to create constant pressure through a heavy front line that forces mistakes and allows the team to break quickly. This formation is built to play a direct and aggressive style of football.
RAYA sits behind a three man defensive line to sweep behind a high line. SALIBA acts as a ball playing defender on the right, while GABRIEL uses his aerial strength to dominate the center. CALAFIORI covers the left side and can step into midfield to help play out from the back. The unit works together to maintain a high line, squeeze the space, and force a long ball from the opponent.
The midfield consists of a three man unit designed to control the central area. ZUBIMENDI acts as a single pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. ODEGAARD operates in the right half space to create with his vision and passing range, while RICE works as a carrier to drive forward with the ball. This trio connects the defense to the heavy attack, with RICE often making late runs into the box to support the forwards.
Arsenal uses four attackers to stretch the defense. R. LEAO plays as a wide winger on the left, using his dribbling and pace to beat defenders, while TIMBER provides width on the right wing. SAKA and GYOKERES play as a partnership of two forwards in the center. SAKA looks to link up play between the lines, whereas GYOKERES acts as a pressing centre forward to pin the last defender. This creates many opportunities for runs in behind and cutbacks from the byline.
This lineup offers immense numerical superiority in the final third. By pushing four players high, Arsenal creates wide overloads and forces the opposition to defend in very tight spaces. The ability to press in coordinated waves makes it difficult for opponents to play out from the back. The speed of transition is also a major advantage, allowing the team to hit in behind on the transition when they win it back high up the pitch.
The 3-3-4 identity is defined by relentless attacking pressure and high intensity. It is best suited for matches where Arsenal needs to break down a stubborn low block or face an opponent that struggles to defend against multiple runners.
