Iran focuses on a direct and high pressing style of play using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and use quick transitions to punish teams. The team looks to control the tempo by using aggressive movements in the middle of the park to force mistakes from the opposition.

Jafari stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back four functions as a flat line where Younesi acts as a defensive wing back to hold the flank. Abdolkarim provides width on the left side, while Hoseine and Shoja operate as central defenders. Hoseine and Shoja need to stay compact to defend zonally and cover the space behind the full backs when they push forward. The defensive unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and keep the opposition from playing through the middle.

The midfield operates with a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten behind the striker. Parsa plays as the advanced attacking midfielder to link the play and find pockets of space. Sourosh and Nourolahe sit deeper to protect the back four and win the second ball. Sourosh helps to drive forward with the ball to transition from defense to attack, while Nourolahe works to intercept passes and recycle possession. This group must press aggressively to win the ball back high up the pitch.

In the final third, Iran uses three attackers across the front. Alipour acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. Mersad plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances, while Karbalaee stays wide on the right to stretch the defence. These attackers use runs in behind to exploit gaps in the opposition line. The goal is to use the width provided by the wingers to create cutbacks from the byline for Alipour or late runs from the midfield.

One major strength of this Iran lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force turnovers in dangerous areas. The team also benefits from the speed of transition when Parsa or the wide players receive the ball in space. This allows them to catch the opponent out of position before they can set their defensive block.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on intense pressing and quick verticality to dominate games. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
