Henry plays as a striker who often cuts inside from the left to find space, while Bergkamp acts as a second striker who drops into the hole to link up play and find the feet of his partner. Ljungberg and Pires push up to join them, creating constant movement that forces the opposition defense to shift constantly. The forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball, allowing the defenders to win the header and recycle possession.

This formation offers great width and the ability to create overloads in the final third. By using the wide players and overlapping full backs, Arsenal can stretch the defence and isolate opponents in one on one situations.
