Independiente focuses on a high press and quick transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and strike with verticality. The team aims to squeeze the space and use the width of the pitch to stretch the opposition once they regain possession.

Rodrigo Rey operates between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back five consists of Marcone, Valdes, and Kevin Lomonaco acting as the central trio, while Leo Godoy and De Istorza provide the width. Marcone acts as the central anchor to clear the lines, with Valdes and Kevin Lomonaco covering the space behind. Leo Godoy and De Istorza act as attacking wing backs to provide width, while the central three defend zonally to hold a compact shape.

A double pivot of Felipe Loyola and Luciano Cabral controls the center of the pitch. Luciano Cabral works to connect the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession, while Felipe Loyola helps to press in a mid-block and win the second ball. This pairing must be disciplined to shield the defense when the wing backs push high. They act as the engine to progress through the thirds and find the feet of the striker.

The attacking unit utilizes three attackers to pin the last defender. Ignacio Pussetto leads the line as a pressing centre-forward, looking to find space between the lines. Montiel and Mazzantti act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central presence. These movements create space for Leo Godoy and De Istorza to overlap the winger and deliver crosses. The front three work to trigger a press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent.

Independiente gains a major advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. The wide overloads from Leo Godoy and De Istorza make it difficult for opponents to defend the flanks.
