Racing Club Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Arias · Sosa · Pardo · García Basso · Martirena · Rojas · Martínez · Nardoni · Conechny · Vietto · ZarachoRacing Club focuses on high intensity and verticality through a 3-3-4 formation. This lineup aims to overwhelm the opposition in the final third by using massive numbers in the attacking zone to force mistakes. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and move forward immediately to catch the opponent out of position.
Arias guards the goal as the lone man in the defensive unit. A back three consisting of Pardo, García Basso, and Sosa acts as the foundation. Pardo and Sosa provide width in the defensive line to cover the spaces left by the advanced midfield, while García Basso stays central to win headers and defend zonally. This defensive unit functions to defend the space behind the high press, and they must stay compact to prevent long balls from bypassing the midfield.
The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a carrier. Martirena, Nardoni, and Rojas work together to occupy the center of the pitch. Nardoni acts as the engine to press aggressively and win the ball back high up the pitch, while Martirena and Rojas connect the defensive line to the front four. These players are tasked to recover possession quickly and provide the first pass to the attackers. They must also track back to form a more traditional block when the team loses control.
Racing Club employs four attackers to stretch the defence constantly. Conechny and Vietto act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to pull the opposition full backs wide, creating space in the middle. Zaracho and Martínez operate as two forwards in a partnership. Martínez often acts as a target man to hold up the ball, while Zaracho looks to arrive late into the box to score. This front line presses the opposition back line relentlessly to prevent them from building play from the back.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages, most notably the ability to press high in coordinated waves to suffocate the opponent. By having four players high up the pitch, the team creates numerical superiority in the attacking third. Another strength is the speed of transition, as the team can move from a defensive block to a full attacking front in seconds, catching opponents before they can reset.
This setup is built for a high pressing identity that relies on overwhelming the opposition. It is best suited for games where Racing Club can dominate possession and force the opponent into errors in their own half.
