Japan plays with a high press and a vertical identity through a 3-4-3. This formation is built to hunt the ball high up the pitch and quickly transition into attacking movements. The lineup aims to squeeze the space in the opponent half to win the ball back as soon as possible.

HyperS guards the goal while the back three maintains a high line to keep the team compact. NK, the captain, acts as the left centre back and directs the defensive line to stay high. Mhuss holds the central position to anchor the defence, while Lyrio operates as the right centre back. The defensive unit works together to step up and catch attackers offside, ensuring the team does not leave too much space behind the back line.

The midfield functions with a single pivot and an attacking ten in front to connect the play. Poxmelator sits deep as the defensive midfielder to shield the defence and win the second ball. Mine and Milk operate as the two central midfielders, with Mine acting as a carrier to drive forward with the ball and Milk looking to recycle possession. Adrian plays as the attacking ten behind the striker to find pockets of space and play through the lines to reach the final third.

Japan utilizes three attackers to stretch the defence across the width of the pitch. Coyote operates as a pressing centre-forward to disrupt the opposition build up from the back. Ingus and Zoro act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to pull the opposition defenders apart. This setup creates space for Adrian to arrive late into the box or for the wingers to cut inside and attack the near post. The forwards work in combinations to create runs in behind the defensive line.

One major advantage for Japan is the ability to press high in coordinated waves from the front line through to the midfield. The formation also allows for wide overloads when the midfielders push up to support the wingers. This creates situations where the team can quickly switch play to isolate a winger in a one on one duel.

This 3-4-3 formation relies on intense pressure and quick movement to unsettle the opponent. It is best suited for games where the team wants to dominate possession and force the opposition into making mistakes in their own half.
