Starting Lineup

Torino aims to play with a direct and vertical identity through a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition through constant pressure and quick forward movements. By placing four players in the attacking line, the team seeks to stretch the defence and create constant threats in the final third.

Israel sits in goal to command the area. The back line functions as a flat back four where the wide defenders are expected to support the play. Pedersen plays as the right back to offer width, while Biraghi takes the left back role to overlap the wingers. In the center, Maripan and Ismajli serve as the primary defenders to defend the box and clear the lines. They must remain disciplined to cover the space if the midfield is bypassed.

The midfield is a double pivot consisting of Anjorin and Casadei. These two players are responsible for shielding the defence and connecting the back four to the attack. Anjorin works to carry the ball forward and progress through the thirds, while Casadei focuses on winning the second ball and recycling possession. They must cover a lot of ground to ensure the team does not get caught out when the front four press high.

The attack utilizes a front four to pin the opposition back. Ngonge and Lazaro operate as wide wingers who hug the touchline to maximize the width. Vlasic and Adams lead the line as two forwards in a partnership. Adams can hold up the ball to allow others to join the attack, while Vlasic looks to make runs in behind the defence. This movement allows the team to attack in combinations and look for cutbacks from the byline.

One major advantage of this formation is the speed of transition. Because Ngonge, Lazaro, Vlasic, and Adams stay high, Torino can break quickly once the ball is won. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads. As Pedersen and Biraghi push forward, they provide extra support to the wide players, forcing the opposition to defend in much tighter spaces.
