The midfield is built around a double pivot consisting of Guti and T. Moya. Guti works to shield the defence and intercept passes, while T. Moya looks to carry the ball forward to connect the lines. Ahead of them, Aketxe and S. Moyano operate in the wide areas to provide service. Aketxe acts as the right midfielder to find space in the half spaces, while S. Moyano pushes up from the left to support the attack.

Real Zaragoza employs two forwards in a partnership to pressure the opposition back line. Bazdar and D. Gómez work together to stretch the defence, with Bazdar acting as a target man to hold up the ball. D. Gómez looks to make runs in behind to exploit gaps in the defence.
