The midfield consists of a two man unit with Al-Aftab and Ilovij occupying the central spaces. This pairing works to win the second ball and progress the play to the attackers. Ilovij and Al-Aftab must remain compact to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines. They act as the bridge between the defenders and the front three, with one midfielder often dropping deeper to help the back five while the other looks to carry the ball forward.

In the attacking phase, the team uses three attackers across the front. Al-Riadh acts as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and wait for support. Al-Milodah and Al-Khanan operate as wide wingers, looking to cut inside or receive the ball in space to drive toward the goal. The movement relies on Al-Bushou and Al-Kaftab to overlap the wingers, creating overloads on the flanks. This creates several options to hit in behind the opposition defense through quick combination play or wide crosses.

The tactical advantages of this formation include the ability to create wide overloads when the wing backs push high up the pitch. Kerala Blasters also gain a significant advantage in defensive compactness, as the five defenders and two midfielders can sit deep to deny space in the middle.
