Capaldo works to carry the ball forward and link the play, while Remberg focuses on pressing aggressively to win the ball high. They must work together to recycle possession and ensure the team does not get caught on the break. The ability of these two to cover ground is vital to connect the defensive unit with the front three.

Hamburg utilizes three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Y. Poulsen acts as a pressing centre forward to lead the line and hold up the ball for his teammates. On the flanks, Königsdörffer and Philippe play as wide wingers who look to cut inside to create goal scoring chances.
