Starting Lineup

A high press and heavy verticality define the identity of Dinamo in this 3-5-2 formation. The team seeks to win the ball back high up the pitch to catch opponents out of position. This lineup is built to control the center of the pitch and use aggressive movements to break lines.

Nevistić acts as the foundation in goal, starting the build up play from the back. The back three consists of Torrente, Mckenna, and Dominguez. Torrente and Dominguez operate as wide centre-backs who cover the space when the wingers push up. Mckenna stays central to win the header and act as a covering defender if the opposition plays a ball over the top. The defensive unit shifts as a single block to squeeze the space and deny the turn of any attacking player.

The midfield functions as a five man unit designed to control the tempo and press in a mid-block. Soldo and Mišić form a double pivot to shield the defence and win the second ball. Ljubičić and Vidović play as inverted eights who occupy the half spaces to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Villar sits in the hole as an attacking ten behind the strikers to find the feet of the forwards. This group works to compress the midfield and ensure the team remains compact when defending.

In the final third, Dinamo uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defence. Beljo and Kulenović work together to press the opposition back line from the front. Beljo can drop deep to link up play while Kulenović looks to make runs in behind. The wide players in the midfield must pull wide to provide width and allow Villar to operate in the pockets. The attack relies on quick combinations to split the defence with a through ball or a sudden burst of speed.
