Valencia uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Penev acts as a pressing centre-forward, working to force a long ball from the opposition defenders. Eloy and Toni operate as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central presence, while also looking to pull wide to isolate a one-on-one wide. This movement allows the team to build in triangles and create runs in behind or cutbacks from the byline.

One major tactical advantage for Valencia is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, led by Penev and the advancing midfield. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads when Quique and Voro push up to support the wingers.
