Boca focuses on a heavy defensive block and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3. This formation is built to absorb pressure and strike quickly once the ball is won in the middle third. The lineup aims to stay compact to deny space between the lines while providing enough width to stretch the opposition during a break.

E. Andrada starts in goal to command the area and organize the defensive line. The back five consists of a central trio featuring N. Nández, Magallán, and Izquierdoz. Magallán and Izquierdoz act as the primary ball playing defenders to start attacks, while N. Nández provides height and strength in the middle of the three. L. Olaza plays as a left wing back to provide width, and Buffarini acts as the right wing back to cover the flank. This defensive unit works to maintain a narrow block, making it difficult for opponents to play through the center.

The midfield operates with a double pivot to protect the central zone. W. Barrios shields the defense with his physical presence and ability to intercept passes, while P. Pérez connects the play by recycling possession and finding the forward lines. These two players must work to compress the midfield and prevent the opposition from playing through the center. They sit just ahead of the back five to ensure there is no gap for an attacking midfielder to exploit.

Boca utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition back line. Benedetto acts as the lone striker, using his strength to hold up the ball and wait for support. S. Villa plays on the left as an inverted winger who likes to cut inside to shoot or create, while C. Pavón operates on the right to provide width and deliver crosses. The front three press the opposition defenders to force a long ball, allowing the defenders to win the second ball and start a quick move.

One major strength of this formation is the ability to defend in a very compact shape. With five defenders and two central midfielders, Boca can easily sit deep and deny space to opponents. Another advantage is the width offered by L. Olaza and Buffarini, which creates overloads on the flanks when they push up to support the attackers. This allows the team to transition from a defensive block to an attacking threat in seconds.

This 5-2-3 formation provides a solid base for a team that wants to control the game through defensive stability and clinical counter attacks. It is best suited for facing high pressing teams that leave space behind their defensive line.
