S. Romero acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit works as a back five with E. Fernández and N. Figai acting as the central pillars. N. Figai and E. Fernández must stay compact to protect the middle, while N. Valentini provides cover as the left centre-back. The wide defenders, F. Fabra and Advincula, are expected to provide immense width. F. Fabra functions as an attacking wing back to push up the left flank, while Advincula uses his pace to drive forward on the right. This back five must shift together to maintain a narrow defensive block when the opponent has the ball.

The midfield operates as a double pivot consisting of C. Medina and Merentiel. These two players are tasked with managing the central zone and protecting the back five. C. Medina works to connect the defensive line to the attack, while Merentiel helps to win the second ball in the center of the pitch. They must squeeze the space between the lines to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle. When the team loses possession, both players must quickly drop to ensure the midfield does not get bypassed easily.

Up front, Boca utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition. E. Cavani acts as the central striker, using his aerial strength and hold up the ball abilities to bring others into play. On the wings, Fernández and V. Barco provide width and goal threat. Fernández tends to cut inside from the left to create more central presence, while V. Barco looks to beat his marker on the right. The front three are expected to press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent. This movement allows the team to win possession high up the pitch and launch immediate attacks.

One major advantage of this Boca formation is the ability to create wide overloads. When F. Fabra and Fernández move forward, they can overwhelm the opposition flank. The formation also offers great compactness when defending, as the wing backs can drop into a flat five to deny the turn of any attacking winger.
