Leicester aims to play a very vertical game designed to catch teams on the break through a 2-4-4 formation. This lineup focuses on lightning fast transitions and heavy pressure in the final third. By committing many players forward, the team intends to overwhelm the opposition through direct play and rapid movement.

Stolarczyk operates between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back line consists of a narrow pair of central defenders with Okoli and Vestergaard. Okoli provides aerial strength and physical presence, while Vestergaard acts as a ball playing defender to start attacks. Because there are only two central defenders, they often play a high line to squeeze the space and must be ready to cover large areas of the pitch behind them.

The midfield is composed of a central pairing of Winks and Skipp who sit in a double pivot. Winks works to recycle possession and control the tempo from deep, while Skipp works to win the second ball and drive forward with the ball. They are supported by wide players Justin and L.Thomas who act as wide midfielders. Justin and L.Thomas provide the necessary width to stretch the defence, often pushing up to support the attackers or tracking back to help the two central defenders.

In the attacking phase, Leicester utilizes a front four to pin the opposition back. Ayew and Daka play as a partnership of two forwards, with Daka looking to make runs in behind to exploit space. Monga and Fatawu act as wide wingers who stay high up the pitch. Fatawu looks to cut inside to create goalscoring chances, while Monga provides width on the opposite flank. This front line is designed to press from the front and force long balls from the opposition.

A major strength of this formation is the ability to create sudden numerical superiority in the attacking third. By having four players positioned high, Leicester can overwhelm a standard four man back line during a quick break.
