Roma aims to control games through a high press and direct attacking movements in a 3-4-3. This formation relies on quick transitions and heavy pressure to win the ball high up the pitch. The lineup seeks to use the width of the pitch to stretch the defence before playing through the lines to find the forwards.

Svillar plays between the posts to command the area. The defensive unit uses a back three consisting of Mancini, Ndicka, and Hincapie. Mancini acts as the right centre-back to defend zonally and win the header when the ball comes into the box. Ndicka sits in the middle to cover the space, while Hincapie plays as the left centre-back to help play out from the back. This back three allows the team to maintain a solid block when defending.

The midfield functions with a central pairing of Kone and Ederson to control the center of the pitch. Kone works to win the second ball and press aggressively to win the ball high. Ederson connects the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession and finding the wide players. Wesley and Angelino act as the wide players in this formation, providing the width needed to spread the play. Wesley pushes up as the right midfielder to overlap the winger, while Angelino occupies the left flank to deliver crosses.

Roma uses three attackers to pin the last defender. Dovbyk plays as the lone striker and acts as a target man to hold up the ball. Dybala operates as an inverted winger on the right, frequently cutting inside to create chances or find the feet of the striker. De Ketelaere plays on the left wing and looks to combine in tight spaces to break the line. These three forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

This formation offers significant advantages such as the ability to press high in coordinated waves with the front three. The presence of Wesley and Angelino allows for wide overloads when they push forward. Roma can also find numerical superiority in the wide areas to isolate the opposition defenders in one on one situations.

The 3-4-3 formation provides Roma with a heavy attacking presence and high pressing capability. It is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate territory and exploit the wings.
