Gabriel R occupies the right wing and looks to cut inside to create goal scoring chances. Javitt stays wide on the left to pull defenders away from the centre. The attackers work in combinations to find space and hit in behind on the transition.

One major strength for Portugal is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. The front three and the midfield trio work together to trigger a press and win it back high up the pitch. Another advantage is the ability to create wide overloads when angel and Torrelles move forward to support the wingers. This creates constant pressure on the opposition full backs.
