SCR Altach relies on a direct and vertical style of play using a 2-4-4 formation. This lineup focuses on attacking the opposition with high numbers in the final third to force mistakes. Stojanovic protects the goal while the defensive unit operates with a very narrow back two. Koller and Gugganig act as the central defenders in a high line to squeeze the space in front of them. Both Koller and Gugganig must be ready to cover the wide areas and win the header when the opposition goes direct. They defend zonally to stay compact and manage the space behind them during transitions.

The midfield works with a double pivot to link the defense to the attack. Ingolitsch and Ouedraogo work together to shield the two defenders and recycle possession. While Ingolitsch looks to win the second ball, Ouedraogo tries to carry the ball forward to break the line. Bähre and Jäger operate in the pockets ahead of them to play through the lines. Both players aim to find the forwards with quick passes and move into space to connect the defensive and attacking lines.

The front line consists of four players designed to stretch the defense. Greil and Gorgon act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to provide width. Both Greil and Gorgon look to get to the byline and deliver early crosses into the box. In the middle, Fridrikas and Mustapha form a strike partnership. Fridrikas can hold up the ball to allow others to move forward, while Mustapha looks to make runs in behind. The front four work together to press from the front and force a long ball.

One major advantage for SCR Altach is the ability to create wide overloads when the midfielders push higher. The formation also allows for pressing in coordinated waves to win it back high up the pitch effectively. By keeping four players close to the goal, the team can pin the last defender and create one on one situations for the wide players.

This 2-4-4 lineup is a high risk formation for aggressive, vertical football. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to catch an opponent that sits deep in a low block.
