Dynamo Kyiv Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Пожар (Володько, Тараненко) · Сорочинський (Мартишко) · Соломченко (Штихаренко) · Царичанський (Клим'юк) · Парінов (Христич) · Гурін (Онищенко) · Дячок (Кузьминський) · Буравцов (Єрмак) · Титенко (Абрамов) · Онисько (Яворенко) · Юрченко (Квіквінія, Степанов)Dynamo Kyiv looks to play a game based on a high press and quick transitions using a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the space in the middle of the pitch and win the ball back high up the pitch. The team wants to disrupt the opposition build up and use the width provided by the attacking midfielders to stretch the defence.
Yurchenko acts as the last line of defence in goal. The defensive unit works as a flat back four with Dyachok and Buravtsov acting as the central defenders. Dyachok is tasked to win the header and provide strength in the air while Buravtsov must stay composed to play out from the back. On the flanks, Titenko and Onysko operate as full backs who must balance their duties to stop crosses and also push up to support the midfield. The whole back line works to keep a compact shape to deny the turn to any oncoming attackers.
In the middle of the pitch, Gurin operates as a single pivot to shield the defence. He is joined by a three man midfield where Parinov and Sorochynsky act as the central engines. Parinov and Sorochynsky are expected to win the second ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. They must also track back when the team loses possession to prevent being bypassed by the opposition. Solomchenko and Tsarychansky occupy the half spaces as attacking midfielders, acting as the link between the central block and the lone striker.
The attacking plan revolves around Pozhar playing as a lone striker. He must work to pin the last defender and hold up the ball to bring the others into play. Solomchenko and Tsarychansky operate almost like wide wingers to provide width, but they often cut inside to create passing lanes through the middle. The team attacks in combinations, looking for quick passes to find the feet of the striker or to knock it in behind the opposition defence. This movement is designed to create runs in behind and pull the opposition defenders out of position.
Dynamo Kyiv gains a major advantage through their ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play short from the back. The formation also provides compactness when defending, which makes it very hard to play through the lines. By using Solomchenko and Tsarychansky to push high, the team can create wide overloads when the full backs join the attack.
This 4-5-1 formation provides a strong platform for a team that wants to control the central areas while staying dangerous on the break. It is best suited for matches against teams that want to hold possession but struggle to break down a compact mid block.
