Atlético Football Formation
Starting Lineup
SALIM · VINOTH · RISHI · VINOTHAN · VEERAMANI · CHINNU · GIRI · DHAYANITHI · DINESH · RENGADURAI · RAMPRAKASHAtlético focuses on being defensively solid and relies on a high press to disrupt the opponent. This 4-3-3 formation is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and strike quickly. The team works to keep the game compact, making it difficult for opponents to find space between the lines.
SALIM stays between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back four operates as a zonal line where RISHI and VINOTHAN provide width. RISHI acts as a right back who can push up to help the attack, while VINOTHAN handles the left side. In the center, VINOTH and VEERAMANI act as the central defenders to protect the area in front of SALIM. VINOTH and VEERAMANI must stay close to each other to cover space and win the second ball if the initial press fails.
The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier. CHINNU and GIRI operate in the half-spaces to help progress the ball, while RAMPRAKASH sits deeper to protect the defense. RAMPRAKASH acts as the pivot to recycle possession and link the back four to the attackers. CHINNU and GIRI are tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high and carry the ball forward into the attacking third. This trio works to compress the midfield and deny the opponent time on the ball.
Atlético uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. DHAYANITHI acts as a pressing centre-forward to lead the line and harass the opposition centre-backs. On the flanks, DINESH and RENGADURAI work as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central threats. DINESH and RENGADURAI pull wide to spread the play before moving into central areas to find the feet of the striker. The front three are expected to trigger a press whenever the opponent tries to play out from the back.
A major strength of this Atlético lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. When the forwards press, the midfield trio shifts up to squeeze the space, making it hard for the opposition to build play. Another advantage is the ability to create wide overloads when RISHI or VINOTHAN overlap the wingers. This movement forces the opposition to defend large areas of the pitch, creating gaps for DHAYANITHI to exploit.
This 4-3-3 formation is a high energy system built on defensive discipline and rapid transition. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play under pressure and prefer to build play slowly from the back.
