Macará aims to play a defensive and reactive brand of football using a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup relies on a compact block to deny space to the opposition and looks to strike when the chance arises. The team focuses on staying organized and making it difficult for opponents to play through the middle.

Javier stays between the posts to command the area. In front of him, the back four stays relatively narrow to protect the central zones. Alejandro and Moíses act as the two central defenders, with Alejandro looking to cover space while Moíses remains dominant in the air. Leonel and Galo operate as full backs, tasked with tracking runners and stopping crosses from the flanks. The defensive unit works together to maintain a low block and keep the lines tight.

The midfield consists of a five man unit designed to control the center of the pitch. Kener and Carlos form a double pivot to shield the defence, with Kener working to intercept passes and Carlos providing a presence to win the second ball. Ahead of them, Ronald, Janner, and Carlos operate in the central and half spaces to connect the lines. Ronald and Janner look to drive forward with the ball, while Carlos works to recycle possession and link the defensive and attacking thirds.

Up front, Michael acts as a lone striker. His primary role is to hold up the ball and wait for support from the oncoming midfielders. He must fight against the opposition centre backs to create space. The team builds attacks by moving the ball through the midfield to find Michael, often looking for runs in behind or quick transitions. When out of possession, the wide midfielders drop back to help the full backs and create a wall of players.

One tactical advantage for Macará is the ability to remain compact when defending, making it hard for opponents to find gaps. The double pivot of Kener and Carlos provides a strong screen that protects the back four. This formation also allows the team to use the speed of transition to catch opponents off guard when they commit too many players forward.

Macará uses this 4-5-1 formation to sit deep and frustrate high attacking teams. It is a selection best suited for away games where defensive solidity is the priority.
