J. Posavec acts as the goalkeeper to organize the defensive unit from the back. The back line operates as a back three with L. Sigali playing as the right centre-back and M. Leovac as the left centre-back. D. Kolinger sits in the middle of this trio to anchor the defense and win headers. These three defenders must hold a high line to squeeze the space and keep the team compact. They work together to cover for one another and ensure they do not get caught out by long balls.

The midfield functions as a four man unit that connects the defense to the attack. M. Šitum works on the right side while M. Pajač occupies the left side to provide width. In the center, D. Antolić and M. Subotić form a double pivot to control the middle of the pitch. D. Antolić helps to shield the defense while M. Subotić drives forward with the ball to link the lines. This midfield group is tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and recycle possession quickly.

NK Lokomotiva uses three attackers to pin the opposition back line. A. Stojaković plays as the lone striker and acts as a target man to hold up the ball. On the flanks, S. Goričan plays as a left winger and D. V. Fernandez acts as a right winger to create width. These wingers often cut inside to create space for the wide midfielders to overlap. The front three press in pairs to force a long ball and win the second ball in the final third.

This formation offers clear tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. The presence of M. Šitum and M.
