Celta focuses on a direct and vertical style of play using a 5-2-3 formation. The lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and transition quickly to the front three. This setup aims to use width and intensity to stretch the opposition and create chances in open spaces.

Radu acts as the goalkeeper to anchor the back line. The defensive unit operates in a back five where Javi Aidoo occupies the right center back slot. Carl Yoel sits in the middle to win headers and provide cover, while Marcos Carlos plays as the left center back. Hugo Ristic functions as an attacking wing back on the left side to provide width, whereas Min Carrera acts as the right wing back to push up the flank. The defenders work together to hold a high line and squeeze the space between the units.

The midfield consists of a two man central pairing. Beltrán Dami plays as the right central midfielder to carry the ball forward and connect the lines. Moriba Sote operates on the left side of the midfield to press aggressively and win the ball back high up the pitch. This pairing is tasked with recycling possession and finding the attackers quickly once the ball is recovered. They must stay compact to prevent the opponent from playing through the middle.

Celta employs three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Bryan Williot operates on the left wing to cut inside and create goal scoring opportunities. Aspas Jones plays on the right wing and uses his passing range and experience to find teammates in dangerous areas. Jutgla Borja acts as the central striker to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. The wingers often pull wide to stretch the defence before looking to deliver early balls into the box.

This formation offers significant advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using three attackers and two wing backs, Celta can create wide overloads to overwhelm the opposition flanks. The defensive unit provides a strong base to defend against long balls while the midfield duo maintains control of the central zone.

The 5-2-3 formation provides Celta with a balance of defensive stability and rapid attacking transitions. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line and can be exploited with pace in behind.
