Musiala plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, using his dribbling style to operate in tight spaces and find gaps in the opposition block.

The attack moves in heavy combinations to stretch the defense. Havertz operates as a pressing centre forward who can hold up the ball to allow others to join the play. Wirtz and Adeyemi act as wide attackers who cut inside to create overloads in the central areas. This movement pulls the opposition defenders apart and creates space for late runs into the box from Goretzka or Musiala. The front three work together to press from the front and force a long ball from the opponent.

One major advantage of this lineup is the numerical superiority in midfield which allows Germany to dominate the ball. The combination of five midfielders makes it very difficult for opponents to find passing lanes through the center.
