Real Madrid aim to play a high press and vertical game using a 3-4-3 formation. This back three must stay compact to deny the turn of any attacking player.

The midfield operates with a four man central block to control the center of the pitch. Valverde plays as the single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Trent acts as a right sided carrier to drive forward with the ball and switch play, while Bellingham works as a left sided midfielder who makes late runs into the box. Nico Paz plays as a central midfielder to connect the defensive and attacking lines and pick up runners in the half spaces.

Real Madrid use three attackers to stretch the defence. Mbappé plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and find the feet of the striker. Mastantuono operates on the right as a winger to spread wide and deliver early crosses. Gonzalo plays as a lone striker and pressing centre forward to pin the last defender and hold up the ball. The forwards work to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when Trent and Mastantuono push high to overlap the winger. There is also a high level of compactness when defending in a mid-block to squeeze the space.
