Pakholyuk operates between the posts to defend the goal. The defensive unit works as a flat back four to maintain a narrow defensive block. Tymchyk and Kryvotsiuk act as the wide defenders to cover the flanks. Syrota and Zabarnyi occupy the central roles. Zabarnyi is noted for his composure and ability to play out from the back. To prevent runners from finding gaps, the unit works to squeeze the space and hold the line.

A midfield consisting of a double pivot with Petrusenko and Yatsyk sits in front of the defense. Their main job is to shield the back four and win the second ball. In front of them, Lednev, Kuliyev, and Veleten form a central trio. Lednev and Veleten drive forward to connect the lines, while Kuliyev seeks to find space between the opposition units. This five-man midfield allows the team to recycle possession and control the center.

Krasnopir leads the attack as a lone striker. Since the team plays with a single forward, Krasnopir must hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. Attacking play often relies on breaking quickly once the ball is recovered. Midfielders like Lednev and Veleten look to arrive late into the box to create extra numbers. Moving forward, the goal is to use the central presence to pull defenders out of position and create runs in behind.

This formation offers great compactness when defending. By crowding the middle, Dynamo Kyiv makes it very hard for the opposition to play through the lines. Another strength is the numerical superiority in the midfield, which helps them win the second ball and control the rhythm of the game. Wide areas can also be used if Tymchyk or Kryvotsiuk move up to overlap the midfield.
