Starting Lineup

St · CAM · LW · RW · RM · LM · CDM · CB · LB · RB · GK

Liverpool plays with a high press and direct attacking intent in a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and exploit spaces quickly through the wide areas. The team aims to suffocate the opposition by keeping a high line and pushing players forward to force errors in the opponent half.

The goalkeeper starts the build up from the back to keep possession. A back three provides the base for the defense, with the LCB and RCB acting as wide centre-backs who can push out to support the midfield. The CB sits central to defend the middle and sweep behind the line when the opposition tries to hit in behind. These defenders must be comfortable playing out from the back to start attacks.

The midfield functions as a box or a staggered unit to control the center of the pitch. The DM sits in front of the back three to shield the defense and pick up runners. The LCM and RCM act as the engines, with the LCM often driving forward with the ball while the RCM works to recycle possession and connect the lines. The AM operates in the hole to create chances and find the feet of the striker.

Attacking the opposition relies on three players across the front line. The LW and RW act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring opportunities, often leaving space for the midfield to exploit. The ST works as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line and hold up the ball for others. The team uses combinations in tight spaces and looks to deliver early crosses or through balls to split the defense.

One major strength of this Liverpool formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to win it back high up the pitch. The wide players and the midfield unit create numerical superiority in the central areas to dominate play. This setup also allows for quick transitions, as the wingers can immediately turn to attack the space once the ball is won.

This 3-4-3 formation focuses on intense pressure and rapid attacking movements. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
