Starting Lineup

Sadiki · Lukébakio · Lavia · Fernández-Pardo · Olaigbe · Mangala · Kayembe · Walsh · Ngoy · Godeau · Epolo

Union SG plays with a high press and vertical intent using a 3-4-3. This formation is built to win the ball high up the pitch and attack quickly in transition. The lineup focuses on stretching the defence to create space in the middle and wide areas.

Epolo stays in goal to manage the area and command the box. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of Godeau, Ngoy, and Walsh. Godeau and Walsh act as wide centre-backs to cover the spaces behind the wide midfielders. Ngoy holds the line in the center to win the header and intercept any direct balls played towards the middle. This unit plays a high line to squeeze the space and win the ball back in the opposition half.

The midfield relies on a double pivot with Lavia and Mangala. These two must work to win the second ball and recycle possession to maintain control. Lavia often drops to shield the defence while Mangala looks to drive forward with the ball to break the line. They act as the vital link between the defenders and the attackers, pressing aggressively to deny the pivot and win it back high up the pitch.

Up front, Olaigbe and Lukébakio play as wide attackers with Fernández-Pardo leading the line as a lone striker. Olaigbe and Lukébakio look to cut inside to create goalscoring chances, while Kayembe and Sadiki push up to provide width. Fernández-Pardo works to hold up the ball and find the feet of the attackers arriving late into the box. The team looks to attack in combinations, using the width to create cutbacks from the byline.

A clear strength for Union SG is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force a long ball. The front three can trigger a press to win the ball back high up the pitch. Another advantage is the wide overloads created when Kayembe and Sadiki overlap the wingers. This creates numerical superiority in the final third and allows for quick play through the lines.

This 3-4-3 formation is built for aggressive, high-intensity football. It is best suited for facing opponents that struggle to play short from the back or fail to manage constant pressure.
