Starting Lineup

Fenerbahçe aims to control games through a heavy high press and rapid verticality in a 5-2-3. This formation is built to squeeze the pitch and use aggressive wing play to break lines. By utilizing a back five, the team can quickly shift between a narrow defensive block and a wide attacking lineup when they win the ball back high up the pitch.

Mamadashvili acts as the last line of defense, providing stability between the posts. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of André, Kim MJ, and Demiral. André serves as a central presence to win the second ball, while Kim MJ and Demiral provide cover and strength in the air. Boey and Kadıoğlu act as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width and stretch the defence. These wide defenders are expected to track back quickly to maintain the back five when the opposition threatens on the break.

In the center of the pitch, the team utilizes a two man midfield consisting of Fred and Yüksek. Fred works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often driving forward with the ball to break the first line of pressure. Yüksek helps to shield the defence and press aggressively to win the ball in the middle third. Together, they look to recycle possession and find the forwards through the lines as quickly as possible.

The attacking front three creates significant tension for the opposition back line. Romûlo operates as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of the midfielders. Yıldız and Güler play as wide attackers, with Yıldız cutting inside from the left and Güler looking to create from the right flank. This attacking trio focuses on making runs in behind and using the width provided by Boey and Kadıoğlu to create overloads.

Fenerbahçe relies on the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force errors. The wide overloads created by the wing backs and wingers make it difficult for opponents to defend the flanks. Additionally, the presence of three central defenders allows for great compactness when defending a lead.
