Starting Lineup

PONA · JOACO · MATI · NAHUEL · ENZO · TITO · CHUCKY · CAFE · JOSE · NAHUE · PATO

FC Bayern look to play a direct and vertical style of football using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to use the width of the pitch while remaining very hard to break down in the middle. The team looks to win the ball and hit the opposition quickly through the center or via the wing backs.

Pona starts between the posts to anchor the back line. The defensive unit consists of a back three with Tito acting as the central man to sweep behind the line. Mati plays as the right centre back while Nahuel operates as the left centre back to provide cover. Joaco acts as an attacking wing back on the right to provide width, while Enzo plays as an attacking wing back on the left. This allows the defenders to hold a narrow defensive block when out of possession.

The midfield operates as a three man midfield with a carrier. Cafe plays on the left and Chucky plays on the right to control the tempo and link the defense to the attack. Jose plays in the hole as an attacking ten behind the strikers to create chances. Cafe and Chucky are tasked to press in a mid-block to win the ball back, while Jose looks to find the feet of the striker or play through the lines.

The attacking unit features two forwards in a partnership. Nahue and Pato work together to push the opposition back line high. They often combine in tight spaces to create runs in behind. When the team moves forward, Joaco and Enzo push high to overlap the wingers, which creates wide overloads. This movement forces the opposition to stretch the defence and leaves space for Nahue or Pato to find pockets of room.

One major tactical advantage for FC Bayern is the ability to create wide overloads from the attacking wing backs. Joaco and Enzo provide constant width which helps to spread the play. Another strength is the compactness when defending, as the three central defenders and three midfielders make it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle. The team can also switch play quickly to find the wing backs in space.

This 5-3-2 formation is designed to be a solid defensive unit that strikes with speed. It is best suited for games against teams that control possession but lack the speed to deal with quick transitions.
