This small unit must be ready to step up and set the offside trap frequently to manage the massive space left behind them.

A five man midfield unit provides the engine for the Roma system. Mancini operates as the central anchor to shield the two defenders and recycle possession. In front of him, Caleb and Aahan act as the central drivers to carry the ball forward into the attacking third. Kyan and Lucas occupy the half spaces as attacking mids to provide extra passing lanes. This setup allows the team to compress the midfield and prevent the opponent from playing through the lines.

The attacking unit functions with three players across the front to pin the last defender. Luke acts as the focal point, holding up the ball to bring others into play. Soulè plays on the right to cut inside and create goalscoring chances, while BAILEY uses his pace to stretch the defence on the left. These forwards press from the front to force a long ball and disrupt the build up of the opposition. The combination of wide attackers and a central striker creates constant threat in transition.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to win the ball back near the opponent goal. The heavy presence in the middle creates numerical superiority in the central corridor, making it hard for teams to bypass the midfield. Additionally, the team can use the wide players to isolate one on one situations when they quickly switch play to the flanks.

This 2-5-3 formation is built for high risk and high reward football. It is best suited for games where Roma needs to break down a low block or overwhelm an opponent through sheer pressure.
