Persib aims to control games through a solid defensive base and rapid transitions using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup relies on a heavy defensive foundation to absorb pressure before launching direct attacks. By using a back five, Persib builds a system that is hard to break down in central areas, allowing the team to absorb pressure and wait for the right moment to strike.

Teja stays between the posts to command the area and organize the back line. The defensive unit works as a back five with Julio and Putros operating as the central pairing to win the second ball and clear the lines. Lucho sits on the left side of this central group to provide cover, while Barba and Kakang act as attacking wing backs to provide width. Barba and Kakang must track back to maintain a narrow defensive block when the team loses possession, ensuring the side remains compact.

The midfield operates as a three-man midfield with a carrier and a creative tip. Berguinho plays as the attacking ten behind the striker to link the lines and find the feet of the strikers. Saddil and Beckham form the engine room, with Saddil driving forward with the ball to join the attack. Beckham works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often dropping deep to receive from the defenders and recycle possession. This trio works to squeeze the space in the middle of the pitch to deny the turn of opposition players.

In the final third, Persib uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defence. Mortensen acts as the lone striker who holds up the ball, while Ramon plays as a second striker in the hole to arrive late into the box. The attack relies on the width provided by Barba and Kakang to deliver early crosses into the area. When the team wins the ball, the forwards press from the front to force a long ball, allowing the midfielders to win it back high up the pitch.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads from overlapping full backs. When Barba and Kakang push high, they pin the last defender and create space for the midfielders to carry the ball forward. Another strength is the compactness when defending, as the five defenders and three midfielders make it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines.

This 5-3-2 formation provides a resilient platform for teams that want to defend deep and hit on the transition. It is best suited for matches against high-possession sides where winning the second ball and exploiting space behind the opposition is key.
