Starting Lineup

Eze · Gyökeres · Ødegaard · Saka · Rice · Zubimendi · Calafiori · Gabriel · Saliba · White · Raya

Arsenal focuses on high pressing and heavy ball progression through a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to control the middle of the pitch and create constant pressure in the final third. By pushing numbers forward, the team aims to win it back high up the pitch and dominate territory.

Raya starts in goal to play out from the back. The defensive line consists of a narrow duo with Saliba and Gabriel acting as the central defenders. Saliba is known for his recovery speed and composure, while Gabriel provides massive aerial strength. This back two must play a high line to squeeze the space, with both defenders acting as ball playing center backs to start attacks.

In front of them, a five man midfield controls the tempo. Zubimendi sits as a single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Rice and Calafiori act as the engine room, with Rice driving forward with the ball to connect the lines. White occupies the right side of this group, often acting as an inverted full back to provide cover. Ødegaard operates as the attacking ten behind the striker, using his exceptional passing range to find teammates in tight spaces.

The attack features three players across the front to stretch the defence. Gyökeres acts as a physical presence to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. On the flanks, Saka and Eze provide width and threat. Saka looks to cut inside from the right to create chances, while Eze uses his dribbling style to beat men on the left. This front three works to press from the front, forcing the opposition to make mistakes.

This formation offers massive numerical superiority in midfield, making it hard for opponents to play through the middle. Arsenal can also create wide overloads when the midfielders shift to support the wingers. The ability to press in coordinated waves allows the team to win the ball back in dangerous areas.

This 2-5-3 lineup is a high risk, high reward system designed to dominate possession. It is best suited for games against teams that sit deep and struggle to handle intense pressure.
