Starting Lineup

Ndzie · Amane · Tilio · Radulovic · J. Auer · Bolla · Raux Yao · Cvetkovic · Seidl · Antiste · Hedl

SK Rapid looks to play a high pressing game with a heavy focus on overwhelming the middle of the pitch, utilizing a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly push numbers forward to disrupt the opponent in their own half. The intention is to control the central zones and use the extreme width of the front three to stretch the opposition defense.

Hedl operates between the posts to guard the goal, while the defensive unit remains very slim with only two players in the central line. Cvetkovic and Raux Yao act as the central defenders, tasked with covering large amounts of space behind the midfield. They must be ready to step up and catch opponents offside or sweep behind the line when the opposition breaks through the initial press. Because there are only two in the back, they must be dominant in the air and quick to react to any direct balls played into the channels.

The midfield is the engine room for SK Rapid, featuring a five man group that occupies the entire width and depth of the central area. J. Auer and Bolla act as a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Ndzie and Amane operate as two central midfielders who look to carry the ball forward and connect the defense to the attack. Seidl plays as an attacking ten, sitting in the hole to find space between the lines and play through the lines to the forwards. This group must move together to compress the midfield and prevent the opponent from playing through the center.

The attacking line consists of three players designed to pin the last defender and create constant movement. Antiste leads the line as a pressing centre forward, looking to harass the defenders and find space in the box. Tilio and Radulovic act as wide wingers who stay high to provide width and isolate defenders in one on one situations. They aim to get to the byline and deliver crosses into the box or cut inside to challenge the opposition. The goal for this front three is to create runs in behind and use quick combinations to break the defense.

One major tactical advantage of this SK Rapid formation is the numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch, which makes it very hard for opponents to keep possession. The combination of the five midfielders and the attacking ten allows the team to press in coordinated waves. Another strength is the ability to stretch the defense using the wide wingers, creating gaps in the center for Seidl or the midfielders to exploit.

This 2-5-3 formation is a high risk, high reward setup that prioritizes territorial dominance and intense pressure. It is best suited for games where the team needs to break down a low block or when playing against opponents who struggle to play under heavy pressure.
