Starting Lineup

Azerbaijan favors a direct and high pressing style of play using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and transition into attack with speed. The team looks to use the width of the pitch to stretch the opposition before finding gaps in the middle.

The goalkeeper starts the build up while the back line operates as a flat back four. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition, while the wingers look to cut inside to create shooting lanes or cross from wide areas to find the striker.

This formation offers several tactical advantages for Azerbaijan. The three man midfield can create numerical superiority in the center of the pitch, allowing the team to control possession or recover the ball quickly. Additionally, the presence of wide wingers allows the team to use the full width of the pitch to pull the defence apart.
