Legia relies on a high press and quick transitions through a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the pitch and exploit spaces behind the opposition defense as soon as the ball is won. The team looks to stay compact and hit the opponent with verticality whenever they win possession in the middle third.

Strebinger acts as the last line of defense behind a solid back five. Sokołowski sits in the center of the defense to win headers and clear the lines. To his sides, Rose and Jedrzejczyk operate as wide centre-backs to provide cover and defend the channels. Mladenovic and Johanson act as attacking wing backs, tasked with pushing high up the pitch to provide width while tracking back to defend the flanks. The defensive unit holds a zonal line to ensure they remain compact when the opponent tries to play through the middle.

The midfield operates with a double pivot to manage the central areas. Josue plays as a carrier who drives forward with the ball to bridge the gap between the defense and the attack. Kharatin works alongside him to protect the back line and win the second ball. This pairing must work hard to intercept passes and recycle possession to the wide areas. They act as the link that allows the team to move from a defensive stance into a rapid attacking movement.

In the final third, Legia uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. Pekhart acts as a target man, holding up the ball and winning aerial duels to bring others into play. Rosolek and Kastrati operate as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create chances. The attackers press from the front to force a long ball and disrupt the opponent build up. They use combinations in tight spaces to find Pekhart or look for runs in behind the defensive line.

A major strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when Mladenovic and Johanson push forward. This forces the opposition wingers to track back and leaves them outnumbered. Another advantage is the compactness when defending, as the five defenders and two midfielders can squeeze the space in the middle. This makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines or find pockets of space between the units.

Legia uses this 5-2-3 to dominate teams that try to play out from the back. The lineup is best suited for matches where the team can win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly.
