PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
HALL (form) · CHAR (destruction) · UZUMAK (calculate) · BEEF (accel) · FENIX (planet) · SOLAR (vora) · LYRIO (neurotic) · MOONLIGHT (kunigami) · LIMITLESS (longlegs) · PROJECT (shadow) · SOMERANDOM (acro)PSG relies on a heavy defensive identity to absorb pressure and strike on the break. The team utilizes a 5-3-2 formation designed to be defensively solid and ready to counter at pace. This lineup allows the players to stay compact in a mid-block and wait for the right moment to transition.
SOMERANDOM stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line features a back three of SOLAR, LYRIO, and LIMITLESS. SOLAR and LYRIO act as the side centre-backs to cover the wide areas, while LIMITLESS sits in the center to win the header and clear the lines. MOONLIGHT and PROJECT operate as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width. When the team sits deep, they form a narrow defensive block to deny the turn to opposition attackers.
In the middle of the pitch, the team uses a three-man midfield. FENIX and BEEF operate as a double pivot to shield the defence and win the second ball. BEEF works to protect the space in front of the centre-backs, while FENIX looks to recycle possession and switch play. UZUMAK plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to connect the lines. He works to find the feet of the striker and play through the lines to start attacks. FENIX also makes late runs into the box to support the advance.
The attack is built around a two-man partnership of HALL and CHAR. HALL works as a pressing centre-forward to trigger a press from the front, while CHAR looks to make runs in behind the opposition defence. MOONLIGHT and PROJECT pull wide to stretch the defence and deliver crosses. This unit builds play by using UZUMAK to lay it off to the strikers or to carry the ball forward into space. These two strikers combine in tight spaces to pull the defenders out of position.
One major advantage for PSG is the ability to create numerical superiority in the central area during defensive phases. The presence of SOLAR, LYRIO, and LIMITLESS makes it very difficult for opponents to find space in the box. Another strength is the speed of transition when the wing backs move up the pitch. This allows the team to quickly move from a low block to an attacking position.
This 5-3-2 formation provides a very compact lineup that is hard to break down. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to sit deep and defend against a side that dominates possession.
