Swansea play with a high intensity, pressing heavy in the opposition half using a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the pitch through sheer numbers in the middle of the field and to win the ball back high up the pitch. The team looks to squeeze the space and control the game by suffocation rather than sitting deep.

Vigoureux guards the goal while the defensive unit relies on a very high line. Burgess and Cabango act as the two central defenders, tasked with being ball playing defenders to start attacks. Because there are only two in the back, Burgess and Cabango must be ready to cover wide areas or step up to engage attackers. They must stay compact to prevent through balls and are often required to win the second ball if the initial press is bypassed.

The midfield is a massive block that controls the central areas of the pitch. Stamenic sits as a single pivot to shield the two defenders and pick up runners from deep. On either side, Key and Tymonic operate in the half spaces to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Franco and Galbraith provide extra width and support in the attacking third, acting as two tens in the half spaces to overload the opposition. This group aims to recycle possession and quickly find ways to break the line.

Up front, Swansea use three attackers to pin the last defender and force a long ball. Idah acts as a pressing centre-forward to lead the line, while Benson and Inoussa work as wide wingers who cut inside to create chaos. This front three is designed to press from the front, forcing the opposition to play under extreme pressure. The goal is to create combinations in tight spaces, with Benson and Inoussa looking to arrive late into the box or pull wide to stretch the defence.

One major advantage for Swansea is the numerical superiority in midfield, which makes it very hard for opponents to progress through the thirds. The heavy presence of Franco and Galbraith allows the team to create wide overloads that pull defenders out of position. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three and the five midfielders to trap the opponent in their own half.

This formation is built for a high pressing, aggressive style of football. It is best suited for games where Swansea want to dominate possession and overwhelm a team that struggles to play out from the back.
