Vitesse Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Ryan · Hamza · Jamie · Isaac · Shai · DH · Serge · Jag · Sutton · June · DKVitesse looks to play a vertical style of football through a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to sit in a mid-block and wait for opportunities to hit in behind on the transition. The focus is on creating a solid base to protect the middle before launching quick attacks through the wide areas.
Ryan stays between the posts to command the area. In front of him, DH sits as the central defender to organize the unit. He is flanked by Isaac on the left and DK on the right to form a back three. Hamza and Shai act as attacking wing backs, providing the necessary width in the final third. These wing backs push high up the pitch to support the attack, while DK and Isaac must track back quickly to cover the wide spaces left behind.
The midfield operates as a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. Jag and Serge are tasked with holding the position and protecting the back line. Serge works to connect the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession, while Jag is responsible to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. They must stay close together to avoid being bypassed by opposition central players.
Vitesse employs three attackers to stretch the defence. June operates as a lone striker to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. On the wings, Jamie and Sutton act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances. This movement allows Hamza and Shai to overlap the winger and deliver crosses into the box. The front three press the opposition back line to force a long ball.
This formation offers the advantage of wide overloads when the wing backs push forward. Vitesse can also achieve compactness when defending by dropping into a narrow defensive block. The speed of transition is a key strength, as the team can move from a deep position to an attacking one with very few passes.
This 5-2-3 formation provides a strong defensive foundation while allowing for rapid counter attacks. It is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their high defensive line.
