Al-Hilal focuses on a high press and heavy ball control with a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to control the tempo and suffocate opponents in their own half through constant pressure. By keeping the ball and moving the opposition side to side, the team seeks to create gaps for their runners.

Y.Bounou plays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a flat back four that can push up to squeeze the space. Koulibaly acts as the dominant center back in the air, while Hassan provides cover as a ball playing defender. On the flanks, J.Cancelo acts as an attacking full back to provide width, while T.Hernández occupies the left side to support the build up. The unit works together to keep a high line and set the offside trap.

The midfield relies on a three man midfield with a carrier to move the play forward. Neves plays as the deep lying playmaker, looking to recycle possession and switch play with his passing range. Kanno connects the lines by driving forward with the ball, while Milinkovic operates as an inverted eight who makes late runs into the box. This trio ensures the team can transition from defense to attack by winning the second ball and finding the feet of the midfielders.

In the attacking phase, Al-Hilal uses three attackers across the front. Núñez operates as a pressing centre forward to disrupt the opposition back line. Salem plays as an inverted winger on the left who likes to cut inside to shoot, while Malcom occupies the right wing to stretch the defence. The forwards work in combinations to create runs in behind or isolate a one on one wide. They press from the front to force a long ball and regain control.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch. The ability to press high in coordinated waves allows Al-Hilal to win it back high up the pitch. Furthermore, the attacking roles of J.Cancelo and T.Hernández create wide overloads that pin the last defender.
