Chelsea aims to control the game through high pressing and quick transitions with a 4-3-3. This formation is built to play a vertical game, looking to win the ball high up the pitch and move it forward with speed. The team relies on the ability of their players to move between the lines to create scoring chances while maintaining a heavy presence in the attacking third.

In goal, Penders acts as the last line of defense. The defensive unit operates with a flat back four that can push up to squeeze the space. Colwill plays as a ball playing defender, looking to play out from the back and break the line with his passing. Chalobah provides cover alongside him, using his strength to win the second ball. On the flanks, James acts as an attacking full back to provide width, while Cucurella offers support to help the midfield by tucking in or pressing the opposition wingers.

The midfield works as a three man midfield with a carrier and deep creators. Enzo occupies the left central role, looking to recycle possession and find the feet of the striker. Caicedo works as a single pivot in the middle to shield the defense and intercept passes. Palmer plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, operating in the half spaces to find pockets of room. Palmer uses his dribbling style to drive at the defense and create chances for the runners. This midfield unit links the defense and attack by moving the ball quickly through the thirds.

The front line features three attackers across the front. Garnacho operates as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and shoot. Estevao plays as a wide winger on the right, aiming to get to the byline and whip it in for the forwards. Pedro acts as a pressing centre-forward, leading the line by pressing the opposition back line and making runs in behind. Chelsea uses combinations in the final third to isolate wide players in one on one situations.

A major strength for Chelsea is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing the opponent into mistakes. The team also benefits from wide overloads when James and Estevao push forward together. This allows the team to stretch the defense and create space in the center for Palmer to operate.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on intense pressure and rapid movement to dominate the game. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
