High energy football is the identity for Platense as they aim to dominate the opponent through constant pressure. This 2-4-4 formation is built to attack relentlessly and squeeze the playing area. The lineup prioritizes getting bodies into the box and winning the ball back high up the pitch to keep the game in the final third.

DE SABATO stays in goal to organize the defensive unit. SALOMON and VAZQUEZ form the central defensive line and must defend in a high line. Since there are only two central defenders, SALOMON and VAZQUEZ need to be dominant in the air and quick to intercept passes. They must hold the line carefully to avoid being caught out by long balls behind them. The whole unit works to stay compact when the ball is on the opposite side.

A midfield block of four provides stability and support for the high press. SABORIDO plays as a single pivot to shield the two defenders and pick up runners. LOZANO and HERRERA act as the driving force, carrying the ball forward to link the defense to the attack. PICCO provides extra cover in the middle to help the team win the second ball. This group is tasked to compress the space and trigger a press whenever the opposition tries to play out from the back.

Platense utilizes four attackers to stretch the opposition defense. ZAPIOLA and MAINERO occupy the wide areas to spread the defense and provide width. On the left, ZAPIOLA stays wide while MAINERO stays on the right to look for chances to cut inside. In the center, BALDASARRA O and RONALDO work as a central duo. They focus on link up play between the lines and making runs in behind to catch the defenders. The goal is to get the ball to the wingers to deliver early crosses into the box.

Success comes from the ability to press high in coordinated waves. Having four players near the opposition goal allows the team to win it back high up the pitch. Another advantage is the numerical superiority in the attacking zone, which creates many chances to cross and attack the near post. Fast transitions also occur when the midfield recovers the ball.

This formation is a brave choice that focuses on heavy attacking numbers. It is most effective when facing teams that sit deep and need to be forced into mistakes through intense pressure.
