Gem Jewelz stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a back three, with Harley King acting as the left centre-back and Mandy Muse playing as the right centre-back. Rissa May sits in the middle to direct the line and cover the space behind. These three defend zonally to keep the team compact when the opposition has the ball.

Madison Morgan acts as the single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. In front of her, Anri Okita and Kaiia Eve operate as the two central midfielders, working to win the second ball and carry the ball forward. Lilly Bell plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space between the lines. This midfield group works to connect the back three with the forward line through quick passing.

The attacking unit uses three players to pressure the opposition back line. Layla Jenner leads the line as a pressing centre-forward, looking to find the feet of her teammates or run in behind. Sonny McKinley and Holly Day play as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create threats in the half-spaces. The team attacks in combinations, using the wingers to pull wide before looking to deliver a cross or play a one-two in the box.

One major strength for Atlético is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back. The formation also creates wide overloads when the midfielders push up to support the wingers. This allows the team to win it back high up the pitch and create immediate scoring chances.
