Man City Football Formation
Starting Lineup
IVY LEBELLE · JEWELZ BLU · BLONDIE FESSER · SUKI SIN · MADDY MAY · CUBBI THOMPSON · KENZIE ANNE · AZUL HERMOSA · RUBY SIMS · GRACIA GATES · CHARLOTTE SINSMan City focuses on a possession based identity to control matches through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the ball and squeeze the pitch through high pressing and constant passing. By keeping the ball, the team dictates the tempo and forces the opposition to chase, allowing them to control the rhythm of the game from the back.
Charlotte Sins plays between the posts to start the buildup. The defensive unit operates with a flat back four that can step up to compress the space. Gracia Gates and Ruby Sims act as full backs, while Kenzie Anne and Azul Hermosa form the central pairing. Kenzie Anne and Azul Hermosa must hold the line and defend zonally to prevent through balls, while Gracia Gates and Ruby Sims can push higher to provide width.
The midfield consists of a three man midfield with a carrier and creators. Maddy May and Cubbi Thompson occupy the central roles to connect the defence and attack. Maddy May helps to drive forward with the ball, while Cubbi Thompson works to win the second ball and protect the central area. Suki Sin operates in the advanced role to play through the lines and link the midfield to the forwards.
Up front, the team uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Jewelz Blu and Blondie Fesser act as wide wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances. Ivy Lebelle plays as a lone striker to lead the press and hold up the ball for the oncoming runners. This attacking unit relies on quick combinations to split the defence and create runs in behind.
Man City gains a significant advantage through numerical superiority in midfield when Suki Sin pushes high. The formation also allows for wide overloads when Gracia Gates or Ruby Sims overlap the wingers. These movements create space in the half spaces, making it difficult for the opposition to mark both the wide players and the central runners.
This 4-3-3 formation provides a strong foundation for controlling possession and pinning the opponent in their own half. It is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate the ball against a team that sits deep.
